American Chamber of Commerce in Ethiopia (AmCham) and Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA) signed a memorandum of Understanding to create a partnership and work together in areas that of common interest. The partnership, that was signed on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Radisson Blu Hotel, will provide the platform for both chambers to coordinate their effort to promote trade and investment between Ethiopia and US business communities.
Mr. Ermias Eshetu, Board President of AmCham Ethiopia and Mr. Yesuf Ademnur, Secretary-General of ECCSA signed the memorandum on behalf of their respective Associations. The MoU will pave the way for both parties to develop strong institutional, trade, and business relations between the two chambers of commerce and their respective members.
Mr. Ermias Eshetu stated that AmCham is very encouraged by the increased participation of the private sector in Ethiopia and the various economic reforms being undertaken by the Government of Ethiopia. To this effect, he expressed his pleasure to sign this memorandum with ECCSA and noted that “American Chamber is looking forward to a steady collaboration in creating essential alignments on ways of facilitating trade opportunities with American businesses.”
Mr. Yesuf Ademnur, Secretary-General of ECCSA, on his behalf stated this agreement will add more momentum to strengthen the relationship into important areas of cooperation in investment, trade, commerce, and technology transfer. He expressed his strong confidence that both associations will utilize this opportunity to expand cooperation in respect of making business and promoting trade and investment in the form of trade fairs and business missions both inbound and outbound.
This memorandum will provide AmCham Ethiopia and ECCSA, among others, the opportunity to exchange information economic and business-related information and establish strong cooperation on matters related to trade and investment. AmCham and ECCSA Board members and senior management team as well as invited guests attended the signing ceremony.
